(Unlike myself), FERdinand had come to enure himself of the effects of his heart protection medication that had the side-effect of draining his energy when starting to walk. It had been suggested that this side-effect was a result of his kidneys producing the wrong level of renin enzyme, though this was never diagnosed. But he could still enjoy with his other hobbies. The first was looking after his captive flock of serin in his garden. His major interest was knowing all about the reign of monarchs of all sorts of nations. Some people, who knew him superficially, felt he was rather nerdy with his regal interest. He also had a bit of time to do his other hobby. When the weather was suitable and when he felt up to it, he would go into the nearby conifer forest and harvest resin from tree trunks which he processed into rosin in small batches for the local chordophone players.
