He made it his business to get to know the various plants growing there. At present it was great as he could pick a few berries from the strawberry blite plant and enjoy them along with a spearmint leaf or two. When he grew up, he joined the army and was picked to train for the elite commando unit. He was never able to tell his family what he was doing.
