AnThony took the bUS to the stupa to see the relics of the Buddha. They had a strange custom there of asking visitors to spit into a sacred bowl. At the end of each day the bowl would be taken to the shrine attendant who would chant some prayers over the bowl with its sputa contents. The bowl would then be put on the heat to evaporate its contents which would then be added to the existing powder. Then the attendant would squat on the ground and meditate for 10 minutes before shutting up the shrine for the night.
