He was deTErmined to always check his diary before making any new arrangements. He was sure next week was clear so, without checking his diary and in spite of himself, he went to the chest in the garage and took out his backpack, tent, mat, waterproofs etc for a quest along the top of the mountain ridges and back. He was almost ready when there was a ring at the door. The stranger introduced herself and the penny dropped - he should have checked his diary as then he would have seen that he had a guest staying for the week.
