Now that the rat had at LAst been slain, it was time to do some baking. Half a pound of caster sugar, butter, plain flour, four eggs, 4 teaspoons of baking powder plus a pinch of salt, elbow grease and a hot oven and hey presto - a Victoria sponge cake!
