498 - WALTZ

Dave was careful with his spending. As he sat there sipping his LATte he took out his notepad and added to his tally of spending. He did the same at dinner time when he tucked in to his balti. He wondered what salts they put into the meal - it was very yummy. At the restaurant bar there were lots of malts to choose from. He started getting up to go and order one, but remembered his budgeting and sat down again. But straight away the same process was repeated - there was clearly a battle of desires going on! To the other diners it looked like he was doing some sort of waltz with an unseen person.

495 - LIBEL

CharLEs said to William "This book of your brother's is likely to be an embarrassment to us all." "I know, I'm worried" said William with a frown. "We had better warn our solicitors to prepare for a libel case". It was not a happy time for father and son. 

496 - SNEAK

"ArE you coming to the beach", called out Isaac. "Yes I am, but first I need to get the peach for each of us in the hamper", replied Maud. So Isaac went back to getting the battery terminals soldered up, cathode to anode, cathode to anode, and so on, to build up a good high voltage. Making a home-built electric car was a fiddly process! "Perhaps I could sneak away from the beach later to do some more", thought Isaac as Maud and the hamper appeared.

495 - CARRY

AmbeR was cooking a load of cauliflower steaks. On this occasion she decided to parch them which was very successful. She checked the baric weight of air above her and felt that the weather was going to be fine - her car was a bit temperamental. She loaded her cargo into her car but the engine wouldn't start. "I must get that car fixed", she muttered to herself. So she had to carry the food up the hill to the restaurant in several batches. That was a tiring day for Amber.

494 - FLOUT

There were a LoT of noisy people in the hall when Roger entered, carrying his bolt of cloth. "I shall have to give this announcement some clout to be heard", he thought. So Roger stood on a chair and bellowed out "Can the car owner who decided to flout the regulations remove their vehicle from the 'ambulance only' bay." (Tact was not one of Roger's strong points!) Someone sheepishly left the hall and the conversation noise bubbled up again. Roger was then able to carry on and set up his market stall where he sold fabrics. 

493 - FOGGY

Oliver was putting some oomph into his cycle riding. As they passed some emus grazing in a field, he said to Olive (who was struggling to keep up with him) "Those are bovid animals". Oliver was very cocky but he didn't have the foggiest idea what he was talking about. Olive knew full well that they were birds they'd seen. The trail descended into the valley which was very foggy and Oliver's brashness was curtailed as he slowed to a crawl. "Don't worry", said Olive, "I'm not afraid; I'll guide us through here - follow me". Olive didn't fancy going out with Oliver again after that!

492 - FAULT

WALTer kept a careful tally of everything he had in his vault. Little did he know that the vault was built on a  fault line and when the earthquake came the whole vault just disappeared into the ground. Suddenly Walter became a lot poorer.
