On A chilly December morning it should have been noisy with the washing machine, dishwasher and radio all raising the volume. But the power cut had transformed the house into a place of quiet. There was nothing else to do but to chain together pieces of paper to make Christmas decorations. Four hours later the electricity came back on. Everyone was relieved and commented that they hoped that wouldn't happen again.
